The calm after the storm: puffins released back into the wild

Image
Since the end of January, over 30.000 seabirds have been found stranded in the Atlantic coast. The species most affected where those of the auk family (puffins, murres and razorbills). Puffins were the most affected – over 18.500 individuals were found, 1000 of which were taken to rescue centres all over France. The public release of six puffins back to their marine habitat was a great reward for caretakers and volunteers.
