Through MarPro Project, SPEA continues to bring seabirds to partner schools. This week SPEA has worked with 7th grade classes of Valsassina School in Lisbon.
The main goal of these actions was to provide knowledge to the students regarding seabird adaptations to the marine environment, their life cycle, as well as behavioural characteristics and the threats that affect them.
Portuguese seabirds were described to the children, so that they can get familiar with them. After all, the ocean is nearby for many Portuguese people but most have a seldom look at it. Without that knowledge, children lose the connection to nature and conservation is impossible.
