What is BirdLife Europe?

BirdLife Europe is a Partnership of 49 national conservation organisations and one of six regional secretariats that compose BirdLife International. Our Partners are present in 48 European and Central Asian countries including all EU Member States.

BirdLife’s unique local to global approach enables it to deliver high impact and long-term conservation for the benefit of nature and people.

  • We are active in 48 countries
  • We have over 4.100 staff members working on nature conservation
  • We have more than 2 million members
  • We own or manage over 6.000 nature sites covering over 320.000 hectare

Our marine conservation work focuses on monitoring and tracking of seabirds, working with fisherman to implement seabird friendly gears, and implementing management actions in marine protected areas, including through educational activities. We also work on improving EU and national policies that have an impact on the marine environment by working with national governments and EU institutions.

You can find more information in our European Seabird Resource Hub.
